Wellness and self care – Maintaining good body health

Maintaining good body health has an extremely positive effect on your overall well being. Good body health can provide you with anything from a psychological lift and increased aerobic fitness to helping you maintain a healthy weight and fighting of diseases.

When you experience good body and physical health you are more likely to live longer and your enjoy life. On the other hand, poor physical health adds stress to your life and impacts your ability to cope with life’s demands.

Essentially, you want to ensure you have good body health so you can deal with life’s challenges and live our life to the fullest.

In this blog, we are going to recap on what you should do to maintain good body health, look at the common signs and symptoms of poor body health and finish the blog with an overview of when we should contact the doctor.

Let’s start at the beginning,

What should you do to maintain good body health?

  • Get enough sleep 
  • Stretch and move 
  • Eat nutritious food 
  • Cut back on harmful habits
  • Relax from the hard work of being a mother
  • Pay attention to aches and pains that won’t go away

For new mums, your doctor should check on your health as well as the babies. For more seasoned mums I have a checklist below for your to follow to keep an eye on your symptoms and concerns.

Have you been experiencing :

  • Headaches 
  • Unexplained tiredness
  • Dizziness
  • Breathing problems 
  • A racing heart 
  • Aching muscles
  • Back pain 
  • Upset tummy
  • Bowel changes
  • Differences in urine or bladder 
  • Menstrual problems ( irregular, heavy or missed periods)
  • Gynaecological issues 

As you focus on looking after the family you may miss issues you are experiencing.

Here are a few signs you need a check-up :

  • Your symptoms are not getting better
  • The symptoms are gradually getting worse 
  • Your symptoms are adding on to one another.
